How has music changed since the 60's?

As already discussed, the MAIN influence on the change of music from the 60's onwards, is the intervention of subcultures in music, they emerge at different times in the music timeline and make their own stand,  for example, The Mods, who were a subculture of the working class in late 50s / mid 60s England, dominated the music industry at this point, the style of music was centred around feautures of this category, so all songs would show typical traits of Mods' music! for example, people in music videos could be wearing stuff like Mod fashion which was heavily influenced by the European fashion of Italy and France, the band ‘The Who’ wore tailored suits, mohair clothes and thin ties. The revolution of the miniskirt was worn by women for the first time and the big hype behind liberated dressing began. then on came the hippies in the 60's, who made a HUGE impact on music mainly because of their unique dress sense, and the fact that they weren't created to rival other subcultures, but merely to put across their views of "peace & love music", so again, different types of music came in! and in the 70's, on came the ravers, a different type of music which consisted of electronica, at this point many different types of music started to emerge, people had more choice of what to listen to, punks also came in at this point, in the 80's another type of music was introduced, which was got music, which gave people a different taste of music!

from the 90's onwards, music was VERY diverse compared to the 60's! now there is a wide array of music to choose from, music from several genre's and new genre's are constantly emerging! there is now a music type for everyone, simply because there's SO much music!
